Consumables

Consumables are ready-made food items that you buy in and serve to customers without cooking — for example bread, pre-packaged yoghurt, juice, or a bought-in dessert.

They are different from meals (which you cook in-house from recipes) but they can appear on your menus in the same way and can be ordered by customers.

Managing consumables

Go to Consumables in the main menu. You will see all consumables organised by menu category.

Adding a consumable

Click + Create and fill in:

  • Name — what customers and staff see
  • Supplier — who you buy it from
  • Price — what customers pay
  • Allergens — any allergens it contains
  • Availability — which dates it is available on the menu

Click Save when done.

Putting a consumable on the menu

Once created, a consumable can be added to a weekly menu in the same way as a meal — go to Menu, select the week, and add it to the appropriate day and category.

Updating prices

If a supplier changes their price, open the consumable and update the price. The new price will apply to all future menus that include it.
