Letter codes

Letter codes are short abbreviations (typically one or two letters) that can be printed on production and delivery documents to quickly indicate a meal property — for example, "V" for vegetarian, "GF" for gluten-free, or "L" for low-lactose.

Why letter codes are useful

In busy kitchen and delivery environments, long text descriptions take too much space and time to read. A compact code next to each item lets staff instantly understand special requirements at a glance.

Adding a letter code

  1. Go to Administration → Letter codes
  2. Click Add code
  3. Enter the code (for example, "V") and its full description (for example, "Vegetarian")
  4. Save

Using letter codes

Once defined, letter codes can be assigned to:

  • Meals — to indicate the meal type
  • Allergens / diet types — to appear automatically when a meal contains certain ingredients

They then appear on printed production sheets and delivery labels so the right meal reaches the right person.
