Recipe Categories

As your recipe library grows, it can become hard to find what you are looking for. Recipe categories let you group recipes into meaningful sections — for example Soups, Desserts, Vegetarian, or Breakfast — so kitchen staff can browse and filter recipes quickly.

Each category can have a colour and an icon, which makes it even easier to spot the right group at a glance.

Adding a category​

Go to Administration → Recipe categories and click +.

  • Name — choose a name that your team will immediately understand, for example "Salads" or "Hot drinks".
  • Colour — pick a colour to visually distinguish this category in lists and calendar views.
  • Icon — optionally add an icon to make the category recognisable even without reading the name.

Click Save when done.

Renaming or changing a category​

Click the edit icon next to any category to update its name, colour, or icon.

Changing the name of a category updates it everywhere it appears — including on any recipes already assigned to it.
